Merran Kelsall is Chairman of the Australian Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AUASB), and a member of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB). Richard Mifsud is Executive Director of the AUASB and a Technical Advisor at the IAASB.

Of particular interest, the IAASB is currently seeking feedback on proposed revisions to its auditor reporting standards and the auditor’s report. The proposals represent a fundamental shift from the current model, where the auditor’s focus is primarily on providing assurance on financial statements, to one where there will be additional requirements to originate some of the information supporting those statements.
