The financial turmoil of the past few years has brought mainstream awareness of what’s going on in capital markets worldwide.

The impact of the activities in a small number of financial centres has been widely felt and the global financial crisis has raised myriad questions about how financial markets are regulated and governed.

In this no-holds-barred interview, CPA policy adviser Amir Ghandar sits down with Professor Justin O’Brien of the University of New South Wales to discuss rules versus principles, the role of regulation and the arrogance of those who would try to take down Qantas. Professor O’Brien is a specialist in the dynamics of financial regulation, especially capital market governance. He has written extensively on the intersection between regulatory form and ethical considerations. Visit the UNSW Centre for Law, Markets & Regulation here.

Listen to Amir Ghandar, CPA Australia policy adviser, and Professor Justin O'Brien.
